Last month, I wrote that Brexit, the grounding of the Evergiven, Covid and the political stand-off between East and West were a unique set of events affecting our markets, and that we’d be very unlucky if they should be repeated. Now there is war in Ukraine.
I think we are all profoundly affected by the terror. The plight of refugees and the loss of so many lives. While Ukrainian citizens feel the bombs directly and see their daily lives in ruins, on our side of Europe we’ll feel the economic hit and shortages of goods. These will hurt, but they’ll be nothing compared to the pain in Ukraine.
Anything I wrote last month could change. This is an uncertain time. We can only pray, help as much as we can with the relief efforts, and hope for peace.
